Ares I-X test flight successful

NASA’s Ares I-X test rocket lifted off at 1530 UTC on 28 October from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida for a two-minute powered flight. The test flight lasted about six minutes from its launch from the newly-modified Launch Complex 39B until splash down of the rocket’s booster stage nearly 240 km down range.

JWST’s Optical Telescope Element passes CDR

The telescope element of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), built by Northrop Grumman Corporation, has successfully passed a critical design review verifying it will perform as designed, and now moves forward to final manufacturing steps and integration of all subsystems.

Common pattern found in MRO safe mode events

Ares I-X launch delayed 24 hours

NASA mission managers cancelled today’s scheduled launch of the Ares I-X flight test because of weather concerns at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

NSS-12, Thor 6 pre-launch details

Arianespace’s sixth Ariane 5 flight of 2009 has been approved for its 29 October lift-off following a launch readiness review, performed at the Spaceport in French Guiana. The launch window extends from 2000 to 2140 UTC.

FASTSAT instruments shipped to NASA Marshall for tests

Three of the satellite instruments that will fly on an upcoming satellite mission called FASTSAT have been created at one NASA centre and have arrived at another for more tests to ensure they are flight ready for launch. They’re now at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama for further testing.
