It has already been reported that the EU Commission is likely to award OHB Technology, Germany, a contract for at eight satellites for the Galileo satnav system. Industry sources now said it could be even for 14 spacecraft. An official announcement is expected on 7 January.

The European Space Agency has published a list of events with ESA participation in 2010. According to the agency, the payload for the first Soyuz-STB lifting off from French Guiana will be Avanti Communications’ Hylas-1 satellite.
