Martin Scorcese is no stranger to the silver screen, having nabbed an Oscar and directed some of the most influential films of our time. From the gritty mob underbelly of “Mean Streets” and “The Departed” to the epic drama of “The Aviator” and “Raging Bull,” this is a man who knows how to make an instant classic. His work has launched the careers of important actors (De Niro), revitalized those who were destined for B-list status (DiCaprio), and won over ateurs and Jersey Shore kids alike. Even the most stuck-up film school students have to admit that they love Scorcese.

While breakups with girlfriends or spouses can be difficult, it can be just as trying to leave behind something or someone less emotionally entangled in your life. Take, for example, the dog and pony show of trying to switch hair stylists. You don’t want to insult someone by letting them know that your tastes have changed, that you’ve met someone else who does things better, but at some point or another, it’s often time to move on. This phenomenon is not limited to people like barbers or favorite restaurants, but also to various utilities and brands.

All across the United States, business owners are facing a truly difficult scenario that is barely showing any signs of letting up: despite forecasts that predict a slight upturn beginning right about now, most business owners feel like they are still in the pits, at the bottom of the barrel, sloshing around in the dregs. And business owners are, on average, smart enough to know that they need to guide themselves by their own experiences and not by what some PhD in Economics is forecasting for the national economy.

The secret’s out, not that it was much of a secret to begin with: HBO is just as good at being funny as it is at being serious. In fact sometimes, HBO manages to pull off that impossible balance and create a show that excels in both its dramatic moments and scenes of hilarity. A great example of that impossible coexistence was the seminal hit “Six Feet Under,” which, despite being about a family who ran a funeral home, still had some of the funniest scenes in television history, including one very memorable paintball match.
