USAF awards United Launch Alliance AEHF-3 launch

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center recently awarded United Launch Alliance a contract modification to perform the launch services for the Advanced Extremely High Frequency-3 (AEHF-3) satellite aboard an Atlas V Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle.

Helios IIB completes in-orbit testing

The in-flight acceptance of the Helios IIB satellite has been successfully completed by Astrium on behalf of the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) and under delegation from the French space agency, CNES.

Hughes and Avanti expand Ka-band satellite services footprint

Hughes Network Systems, LLC announced an US$18 million, multi-year agreement to supply Avanti Communications Group, plc with advanced Ka-band networking infrastructure for Avanti’s HYLAS 2 satellite, building on the initial US$24 million contract to supply Ka-band technology for HYLAS 1 signed last October.

Two years in space for GIOVE-B

GIOVE-B has completed its second year in orbit. The satellite was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on 27 April 2008 to help validate the technologies developed for the Galileo navigation constellation.
