Orbital Sciences Corporation announced that it is prepared to launch the first of its Minotaur IV rockets in support of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2 (HTV-2) programme.

A Proton M/Briz M is to launch the SES-1 satellite on 24 April 2010, 1119 UTC. The launch vehicle, utilising a 4-burn Briz M mission design, will lift off from Pad 39 at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.

The U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego, has selected Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. for Geosat Follow-on 2 (GFO-2), the next generation ocean altimetry satellite. GFO-2 measurements will be used for global ocean, and tactical battlespace characterisation.

SES Astra has signed a capacity agreement with South African pay-TV operator On Digital Media (ODM) for three transponders on its Astra 4A satellite, and has also contracted to provide the related broadcasting services via its affiliate Astra Platform Services.
