Heading out to get a haircut isn’t as simple as it used to be. What once was a few quick snips to even out those wily ends, has turned into what can be a whole day process. While you may think I’m only talking about women’s beauty salons, think again. Both women and men are spending lots more time dedicating hours and money to their appearance than ever before. With the way the media tends to drive consumers and the emphasis on appearance and self image, it’s no surprise that beauty parlors, cosmetics counters, and yes even hair salons are seeing more business than ever before.

Probably the most popular network on television these days is HBO. HBO offers great television shows, interesting documentaries, and the best movies. More and more cable and satellite television providers are offering packages and specials deals to their customers involving HBO. There are a couple of reasons for this. One is because cable and satellite television providers know that their customers want more access to the programming of HBO, so of course they are going to find ways to make it easier for their customers to get what they want.

For some people it may continue to seem a bit surprising to refer to satellite TV as an ideal kind of television service. How could that possibly be? After all, wasn’t it that we were told that satellite connections always cut out and that they couldn’t offer nearly anything as good as cable TV? Well, as it turns out, that was then and this is now: satellite communications systems have become quite advanced indeed and in pretty much all the most important aspects it has already surpassed cable as the most attractive kind of television service.

Successful launch for ESA’s CryoSat-2 ice satellite

Rocket: Dnepr; Payload: Cryosat-2; Date: 8 April 2010, 1357 UTC; Launch Site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The signal confirming satellite separation came 17 minutes later from the Malindi ground station in Kenya.

Boeing hands over GOES-P for final testing

Boeing said it had transferred control of the third Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-P) to NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently to begin on-orbit verification testing.

Galaxy 15 customers to transition to Galaxy 12 following anomaly

Intelsat S.A. announced that its Galaxy 15 satellite (G-15), located at 133 degrees West, experienced an anomaly on 5 April 2010 at 0948 UTC. The G-15 satellite primarily provides transmission capacity for cable programmers in North America.
