On 12 July the European Satellite Services Provider (ESSP SAS) received a certificate of Air Navigation Service Provider according to the Single European Sky Regulation 2096/2005.

Eutelsat Communications and ictQATAR (representing the State of Qatar) announced that following an international consultation, Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) has been selected to build the high-performance satellite they will jointly own and operate at the 25.5 degrees East location in geostationary orbit.
