AsiaSat 7, a new communications satellite of Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat), is scheduled for launch at 1910 UTC on 25 November by an ILS Proton Briz M launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced that the SES-4 satellite that it designed and built for SES has arrived at the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, where it will be launched aboard an ILS Proton Briz M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS).

Russia seems to have missed the last chance to put its Fobos-Grunt probe back on track. The window for Fobos-Grunt’s flight closed on 21 November. Even if the craft’s engines can be started, it won’t be able to reach its original target.

According to Northrop Grumman, the first of two Defense Weather Satellite System (DWSS) spacecraft is being developed and verified using the Electrical Engineering Model Testbed to conduct the Satellite Integration and Test (I&T) processes much earlier than usual. Risk is reduced sooner rather than later in the I&T phase when satellite development is much further along and delays are more costly, the company said.

The review is a key milestone that confirms the Harris design approach is consistent with the customer’s technical requirements, allowing the payload team to transition into the detailed design phase of the programme.

Eutelsat “categorically refuted recent reports that claim it is generating interference to its own satellites in order to prevent reception in Iran of international Farsi satellite channels.” Last week, a commentary in the Paris newspaper La Tribune repeated a charge from French parliament member Jean-Louis Bianco that Eutelsat was interfering with its own transmission into Iran and bowing to Iranian pressures.
