NOAA retires GOES-7 after 25 years as a weather and communications satellite

This week, the GOES-7 satellite, one of NOAA’s earliest geostationary satellites, was moved into a higher orbit and retired from service. Launched in 1987, GOES-7 first served as a critical weather satellite, capturing images of developing hurricanes and other severe storms that impacted the United States.

4th Boeing-built WGS satellite accepted by U.S. Air Force

Boeing announced that the U.S. Air Force accepted control of the fourth Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) military communications satellite on 11 April after the spacecraft passed several weeks of on-orbit tests.

Lockheed Martin delivers two satellites for

Lockheed Martin has delivered its 100th and 101st commercial geostationary communications satellites in preparation for the first dual launch of satellites built by Lockheed Martin aboard an Ariane 5 rocket.

Arianespace shareholders approve financial results for 2011

Arianespace’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders was held on 12 April in Evry. The meeting approved the company’s financial statements for 2011 and also named a new Board of Directors, which renewed the appointment of Jean-Yves Le Gall as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Tests on first two Galileo satellites completed at Fucino Space Centre

Newtec demonstrates 310 Mbps over a 36 MHz Yahsat transponder
