Europe’s next ATV resupply spacecraft enters final preparations

Europe’s fourth Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) to service the International Space Station is entering its final preparation phase for a planned Ariane 5 launch this spring from French Guiana on Arianespace’s Flight VA213.

Intelsat commences proposed initial public offering

Intelsat Global Holdings S.A., to be renamed Intelsat S.A., announced that it has commenced the distribution of preliminary prospectuses in anticipation of its proposed initial public offering of 21,739,130 common shares and proposed concurrent public offering of 3,000,000 Series A mandatory convertible junior non-voting preferred shares.

Space Foundation’s 2013 Report: 6.7% growth in the global space economy in 2012

The global space economy grew to US$304.31 billion in commercial revenue and government budgets in 2012, reflecting growth of 6.7% from the 2011 total of US$285.33 billion. Commercial activity — space products and services and commercial infrastructure — drove much of this increase. From 2007 through 2012, the total has grown by 37%, according to Space Foundation’s 2013 Report.
