NASA has selected Orbital Sciences Corp. to launch the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission. CYGNSS will launch in October 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida aboard a Pegasus XL rocket from Orbital’s “Stargazer” L-1011 aircraft.

Airbus Defence and Space will be the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) prime contractor for the development and construction of the high-precision Sentinel-5 instrument worth EUR144 million. The instrument will monitor the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere globally on a daily basis by taking measurements of trace gases and aerosols that have an impact on the climate and air quality.

The Russian Loutch 5V (5B) spacecraft and Kazakhstan’s KazSat 3 communications satellite were delivered to the Baikonur launch base on Monday, 24 March to be processed for a dual launch. Built by Reshetnev ISS, both satellites are to be launched by a Proton M/Briz M launch vehicle.
