Proton fails again, Ekspress AM4R lost

A Proton-M rocket has failed to place the Ekspress-AM4R communications satellite into orbit. The rocket lifted off at 2142 UTC on 15 May 2014. The failure occurred nine minutes into flight at an altitude of 161 km during the operation of the vehicle’s third stage.

NASA’s ISS-RapidScat scatterometer instrument arrives at launch site

The International Space Station (ISS)-RapidScat scatterometer instrument arrived at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 12 May after a cross-country trip from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.
