Antares returns to flight with OA-5 mission

Rocket: Antares 230; Payload: OA-5 (Cygnus); Date: 17 October 2016, 2340 UTC; Launch site: Wallops Flight Facility, USA. The Antares medium-class rocket launched approximately 2,400 kilograms of cargo to the ISS. Following a nine-minute ascent, the spacecraft was successfully deployed into orbit.

Boeing awards GS Yuasa order for space qualified lithium-ion cells

GS Yuasa Lithium Power (GYLP), a U.S. subsidiary of GS Yuasa Corporation (GYC), announced that it has received an order from The Boeing Company for the procurement of LSE190 lithium-ion cells to be used in GEO satellite applications.

Europe’s first polar orbiting weather satellite MetOp-A, built by Airbus Defence and Space for ESA/EUMETSAT, has been providing weather and climate data since it was launched on 19 October 2006.
