ExxonMobil and Scepter to deploy satellite technology for methane emissions detection

ExxonMobil and Scepter, Inc. have agreed to work together to deploy advanced satellite technology and proprietary data processing platforms to detect methane emissions at a global scale. The agreement has the potential to redefine methane detection and mitigation efforts and could contribute to broader satellite-based emission reduction efforts across a dozen industries, including energy, agriculture, manufacturing and transportation.

EC selects Mynaric-led consortium for work on satcom constellation

The Mynaric-co-led consortium UN:IO has been selected by the European Commission for initial work on an independent European satellite network. The European Commission selected UN:IO and one other consortium [New Symphonie] to outline within the next six months a detailed technical concept for their respective proposed constellation architecture to establish Europe’s future sovereign communications infrastructure in space.

BlackSky claims ‘highest revisit rate in the world’

BlackSky’s said its high-resolution small satellite constellation has the highest revisit rate in the world, with a peak of 15 hourly visits per day over certain locations. The real-time geospatial intelligence company recently achieved a 12 small satellite constellation, doubling its imaging capacity.

First Vega-C rocket stages reach Europe’s Spaceport

Rocket Lab launches 109th satellite to orbit

Rocket: Electron; Payload: two BlackSky satellites; Date: 9 December 2021, 0002 UTC; Launch site: Mahia Peninsula, New Zealand. Electron successfully delivered the two BlackSky Gen-2 Earth-imaging satellites to a circular 430 km orbit.

Proton-M launches two Ekspress satellites (part I)

Rocket: Proton M/Briz M; Payload: Ekspress AMU3, Ekspress AMU7; Date: 13 December 2021, 1207 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The Russian Proton-M rocket lifted off with two Ekspress telecoms satellites from the Baikonur spaceport as normal and its Briz-M booster activated its thrusters successfully.
