Cable companies’ monopoly of the pay-TV industry in the early 1990’s collapsed when satellite TV developed into a significant provider. Today, the scene is shared by cable companies and satellite TV providers who deliver digital programming to the public. Other players like IPTV and internet video providers are also emerging in the market but it may take a few more years before they mature.
