NASA announced the modification of its NASA Launch Services (NLS) II contract with United Launch Services to add the Delta II rocket launch service in accordance with the contract’s on-ramp provision. The modification will enable United Launch Services to offer as many as five Delta II rockets.

Rocket: Chang Zheng 2FT1; Payload: Tiangong-1; Date: 29 September 2011, 1336 UTC; Launch site: Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, China. The unmanned Tiangong-1 module will test space docking with a spacecraft later this year.

Aerojet announced that along with NASA and Orbital Sciences Corporation, the team conducted a successful ground test firing of an AJ26-62 flight engine that will power Orbital’s Taurus II medium-class space launch vehicle. The test was conducted at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

SES S.A. announced that the QuetzSat-1 satellite will be launched into space from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on board an ILS Proton M/Briz M rocket at 2232 UTC on 29 September.

Fuelling of a Chang Zheng-2FT1 carrier rocket has been completed in preparation for the launch of the Tiangong-1 space module on 29 September between 1316 and 1331 UTC.

Rocket: Zenit 3SL/Block DM-SL; Payload: Atlantic Bird 7; Date: 24 September 2011, 2018 UTC; Launch site: Odyssey Launch Platform, positioned on the equator at 154 degrees West longitude in the Pacific Ocean.
