Ten years ago: first GPS IIR satellite launched

The first U.S. Air Force Global Positioning System Block IIR (GPS IIR) satellite, built by a team led by Lockheed Martin, has surpassed its 10-year design life of on-orbit service.

EMS Technologies delivers AEHF anti-jamming hardware

SBIRS GEO-1 payload completes thermal vacuum testing

WGS SV-1 shipped to Cape Canaveral

The U.S. Air Force’s first Wideband Global Satellite Communications (WGS, formerly known as Wideband Gapfiller Satellite) spacecraft (SV-1) was shipped to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on 20 July. From the site, it was transported to the Astrotech Space Facility in Titusville, Florida/USA, for post-shipment processing.

ATK awarded additional Orion launch abort system motor contract

Alliant Techsystems has been selected by Orbital Sciences Corporation as part of the Orion prime contractor team, led by Lockheed Martin , to provide the attitude control motor (ACM) for NASA’s Orion crew exploration vehicle launch abort system (LAS).

New gas deflector for Sea Launch platform built

Sea Launch’s prime contractor for launch system ground support, the Design Bureau for Transport Machinery (DBTM) of Moscow, Russia, has completed fabrication of a new gas deflector for the Zenit-3SL launch system.
