Though there are conflicting signs from economists and prognosticators, it appears the absolute worst days of this recession are over. Traditionally, the flatlining of jobless claims is a sign that better times are imminent. We will see if that trend holds true. One thing is certain, however: as soon as the economic signs appear favorable, we’ll see a return to higher prices from many of the products and services that have gone on sale in the past year. If you haven’t yet gotten an HD television set and experienced satellite TV programming, it could be the perfect time to join the party.

Families are struggling to save money day in and out. After combing through the family budget, and trimming all unnecessary expenses, you are often left with only the big bills to contend with. With technologies improving in band width and media playability on the home PC and laptop, streaming video is quickly becoming an alternative venue for television and movie watching. This also provides a unique opportunity to eliminate one more bill without necessarily sacrificing the service.

ESA’s next Earth Explorer, SMOS, has recently passed the all-important Flight Acceptance Review, signifying that all the elements that make up the mission are in place for launch later this year. The satellite can now be prepared for its journey to the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia, from where it is to lift off aboard a Rokot launcher.

Measat Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd announced it has signed an agreement with Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd (MBNS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro All Asia Networks plc, to supply transponder capacity on the Measat-3a satellite.
