SES Astra has signed a long term contract extension for one transponder with the Dutch satellite TV provider Canal Digitaal for its digital services and the launch of new HD channels at Astra’s orbital position 23.5 degrees East.

We live in the rural Midwest and have a choice between 3 TV providers; our local cable company, Dish Network and DirecTV Satellite services. Deciding between the 3 was an interesting experience. To make it simple I wrote down a list of requirements and a breakdown of costs for each service to provide those requirements.
