The Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO) mission, developed by NASA’s Langley Research Center and CNES has fired its lasers into the Earth’s atmosphere over two billion times since its April 2006 launch.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced it has agreed with Orbital Sciences Corporation to supply Proximity Link System (PLS) components that will guide Orbital’s Cygnus Spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) on nine re-supply missions for NASA.

Over the last ten years or so, about 30 million people have abandoned cable television services and made the switch to the over-the-air cable satellite TV service providers. There are obviously some very good reasons why so many people have made this change, much to the chagrin of the executives at the cable service companies who have watched this exodus. In addition to those who switched from cable to satellite, there are millions more who were never able to have cable access to programming because they lived in rural areas.

There is no doubt that television has been providing people with endless hours of entertainment since it was first introduced commercially in the 1940s. As television caught on and became popular, the number of shows expanded continually in order to satisfy the needs of viewers to be entertained in the comfort of their own homes. Today, the direct TV satellite services have come to be the most popular way for people to enjoy the shows they most want to watch at home.
