Adapting books to the silver screen can be tough enough; try to do that with a graphic novel or comic book, and you might find yourself in an entirely different world of trouble. The good news is that with directors seeing comics as a rich source material for legitimately good films, rather than a way to appease legions of fan boys, the world of the comic book movie is getting better and better. It is no longer a silly romp through action sequences exclusively; there are actual plot lines, and even Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning performances. It’s definitely possible to enjoy all of the action via HDTV while still appreciating the fact that you are dealing with a well-constructed plot and overall excellent movie.
