There are a lot of reasons to like satellite TV, but the best reason may be the fact that it offers its subscribers so many options. It’s true that it’s inexpensive and accessible to almost everyone, but what really matters at the end of the day is how effective it is as an entertainment option, which is directly related to the number of options you get. In fact, it’s so effective that it can be difficult deciding what to watch. The following is a quick rundown of just a few of the available options and it is by no means comprehensive. Actually, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Sometimes, a night at home just makes more sense than driving all the way to a local movie theater or spending a ton of money on an outing. After all, the options that are available for most families these days via dish are considerably more impressive than what has ever been available with cable packages. And the fact that service providers are clamoring for customers means that it’s never been a better time to enjoy a night in, when prices are more reasonable and there is less of a need to be worried about the long-term implications of any sort of package deal.

Rocket: Proton M/Briz M; Payload: EchoStar XV; Date: 11 July 2010, 1840 UTC; Launch Site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. After a 9 hour 13 minute mission, the Briz M successfully released the EchoStar XV satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit.

Rocket: Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C15); Payload: Cartosat-2B, ALSAT-2A, NLS 6.1 (AISSAT-1), NLS 6.2 (TISAT-1), STUDSAT; Date: 12 July 2010, 0352 UTC; Launch Site: Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, India. After about 20 minutes of flight time, the remote sensing satellite Cartosat- 2B along with the four auxiliary satellites was successfully injected into a circular orbit of 637 km with an inclination of 98.1 degrees.
