Defunct German satellite may partially survive crash

The defunct German X-ray satellite ROSAT is expected to crash back to Earth some time between October and December 2011. According to the German Aerospace Center (DLR), there’s a chance the spacecraft will not burn up completely when re-entering Earth’s atmosphere.
