The James Webb Space Telescope reached another key milestone with the delivery of the pathfinder backplane to Northrop Grumman, prime contractor on the programme. In related news, the first JWST primary mirror segments will begin final round-the-clock cryogenic testing at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.

Two recent Ballistic Missile Defense System-wide (BMDS) tests involving the Northrop Grumman Corporation-built Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) Demonstration satellites showed that the satellite system can successfully perform full-course, or ‘birth-to-death’ tracking of a ballistic missile.
