ESA and OHB System AG have signed a rider to the contract for the development of the SmallGEO geostationary satellite platform. The extension signed has a value of approx. EUR14 million.

NASA has selected 11 science proposals for evaluation as potential future science missions. The proposals outline prospective missions to study the Earth’s atmosphere, the Sun, the Milky Way galaxy, and Earth-like planets around nearby stars.

Following the successful launch on 29 June 2011, completion of all on-orbit checkout activities and transition to operational status, the U.S. Air Force is reporting that the ORS-1 satellite and ground systems are performing as required.

Engineers from the Nigerian space agency (NASRDA) and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) continue in the successful commissioning of NigeriaSat-2 from NASRDA’s headquarters in Abuja, SSTL said. Testing of all the systems on-board the satellite has been successfully completed, first images have been received, and calibration of the imaging payloads is ongoing.
