Proton returns to flight with military satellite launch

The satellite, which was launched “in the interests of the ministry of defence,” separated from the upper stage without problems at 0748 UTC on 21 September, Roskosmos said.

Last Ariane 5 of 2011 puts Arabsat 5C, SES 2 in orbit

Delivering a total payload lift performance of approximately 8,975 kg., the mission lofted Arabsat-5C for the Arab Satellite Communications Organisation (Arabsat) and SES-2, which will be utilised by Europe’s SES.

RSCC to sign new satellite contracts sonn

The Russian Satellite Communications company (Kosmicheskaya Svyaz, RSCC) plans to sign contracts before the end of the year to build three telecommunications satellites, RSCC General Director Yury Prokhorov said.

ORS-1 declared operational

The U.S. Department of Defense’s Operationally Responsive Space-1 (ORS-1) satellite was declared fully operational on 16 September by the U.S. Air Force Space Command at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado following successful on-orbit deployment and checkout of all systems.
