Russia’s chief prosecutor has blamed a recent spate of failures – the loss of an Ekspress AM-4 telecommunications satellite and Progress M-12M cargo vessel earlier this year – on negligence by space industry enterprises’ employees.

The U.S. Defense Department and National Reconnaissance Office plan to spend US$15 billion on rocket booster cores without enough information to determine whether they are getting a “fair and reasonable” price, according to government auditors.
