First Soyuz launch from French Guiana successful

Rocket: Soyuz ST-B/Fregat-MT; Payload: two Galileo IOV satellites; Date: 21 October 2011, 1030 UTC; Launch site: Sinnamary, French Guiana. All of the Soyuz stages performed as planned, and the Fregat-MT upper stage released the Galileo satellites into their target orbit 3 hours 49 minutes after lift-off.

Launch vehicle production to remain strong despite challenges – report

Forecast International projects that the world-wide expendable launch vehicle market will be worth US$53 billion from 2011-2020, based on production of 693 launch vehicles. A total of 29 launch vehicle programmes are covered in the company’s “The Market for Expendable Launch Vehicles” analysis, which notes that in a market that faces challenges over the next 10 years, there are bright spots.
