Three Ariane 5s are now in French Guiana following arrival of the heavy-lift launcher for Arianespace’s June launch, which will carry a broadband communications satellite with North American coverage and a European weather observation platform.

A state commission today approved the readiness of a Proton-M carrier rocket for the launch of Intelsat-22, Russia’s Federal Space Agency Roskosmos said.

The Metop-B satellite has successfully passed its health check confirming it is functioning well following the transport to launch site.

Researchers from SRI International and the University of Michigan have taken the first-ever measurement of naturally occurring auroral turbulence recorded using a nanosatellite radar receiver. The research was done with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NASA’s Educational Launch of Nanosatellites (ELaNa) Initiative.

The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) and Romantis Group, a provider of satellite capacity and networking equipment, jointly announced that they will further develop the existing collaboration based on RSCC satellite capacity and Romantis VSAT products and value-added services to spread to North and South America as well as the transatlantic area.

The Ariane 5 launch of Europe’s no. 3 Automated Transfer Vehicle was given the green light for a 23 March lift-off from the Spaceport in French Guiana on a servicing mission to the International Space Station.
