OHB and Thales Alenia Space sign contracts for MTG

OHB System AG and Kayser-Threde GmbH, both subsidiaries of OHB AG, have signed contracts for the development, construction and testing of the third-generation MTG weather satellites with Thales Alenia Space, the prime contractor in this programme.

GMV awarded contract for Thaicom 6 satellite control centre

NASA awards safety and mission assurance contract to ARES

ARES Technical Services has been selected by NASA to provide safety and mission assurance services to Goddard Space Flight Center’s SMA Directorate under the Safety and Mission Assurance Services (SMAS) contract.

Astrium built Galileo satellites fit and fully operational in orbit

The first two Galileo In-Orbit Validation (IOV) satellites built by Astrium are working perfectly and now begin full in-orbit operations, the company said. The satellites successfully passed a series of in-orbit tests following their launch on the first Soyuz flight from the Guiana Space Centre, French Guiana on 21 October 2011.

Lockheed Martin’s Stevens to retire; board elects Kubasik CEO

Lockheed Martin announced that Chairman and CEO Bob Stevens, 60, informed the board of directors of his plans to retire as CEO after 25 years of service with the company. President and COO Chris Kubasik, 51, will succeed Stevens as CEO effective 1 January 2013. Subject to election by shareholders and approval by the board, Mr. Stevens will remain chairman through January 2014.
