The launch of SES-5 (aka Sirius 5) aboard a Proton M from Baikonur has been rescheduled again. Arianespace will orbit two satellites on its third Ariane 5 launch of the year: the dedicated Internet satellite EchoStar XVII for the U.S. operator and service provider Hughes, and the MSG-3 weather satellite for EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites.

JAXA confirmed that the Global Change Observation Mission 1st – Water “Shizuku” (GCOM-W1) was inserted into a planned position on the A-Train orbit as a result of orbit control performed on 29 June 2012. The satellite was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on 17 May 2012 (UTC).
