Orbital Sciences Corporation announced that it has been selected by NASA to design, manufacture, integrate and test a new astrophysics satellite that will perform a full-sky search for exoplanets around nearby stars.

Orbital Sciences Corporation said the test flight of its Antares rocket demonstrated all operational aspects of the new launcher, including the ascent to space and accurate delivery of a simulated payload to a target orbit of approximately 240 x 256 km, with an inclination of 51.6 degrees, the same launch profile it will use for Orbital’s upcoming cargo supply missions to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA.
