New communication with Philae – commands executed successfully

The Philae lander communicated with the Rosetta orbiter again between 1745 and 1807 UTC on 9 July 2015 and transmitted measurement data from the COmet Nucleus Sounding Experiment by Radiowave Transmission (CONSERT) instrument.

Newest Gonets satellites now in service

A trio of Gonets-M satellites which was launched into orbit on 31 March earlier this year and completed the orbital constellation of the multifunctional personal satellite communications system Gonets-D1M has finally gone into service.

Neptec UK announces Proba-3 space contract

Neptec UK Limited has signed a contract with Sener of Spain for the development and delivery of Neptec’s High Accuracy Metrology System (HAMS) for the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba 3 satellite mission, tentatively scheduled to launch in late 2018.

Aerojet Rocketdyne tests PowerTrain Solar Electric Propulsion concept

Aerojet Rocketdyne said it successfully built and tested a prototype system designed to improve the way power is delivered from the solar arrays to the high-power electric thrusters on Solar Electric Propulsion (SEP) spacecraft.

Quantum contract signed

Airbus Defence and Space has signed the first contract for the fully reconfigurable Quantum satellite with Eutelsat and the European Space Agency (ESA). The Quantum satellite will be operated and commercialised by Eutelsat and will be able to adapt to new demands in coverage, bandwidth, power, frequency configurability and even change its orbital position.

TAS to provide Poseidon-4 altimeter for Jason-CS/Sentinel-6 mission

Thales Alenia Space announced that it has signed the first part of a contract with Airbus Defense and Space to supply Poseidon-4 spaceborne radar altimeters.
