Bigelow Aerospace signs deal with Orion Propulsion

Bigelow Aerospace, LLC has contracted Orion Propulsion, Inc. to supply the attitude control system for the forward end of Sundancer – the first commercial space habitat capable of supporting a human crew.

Update: Lockheed wins first GPS III contract

Officials from the U.S. Air Force Space Command’s Space and Missile Systems Center’s Global Positioning Systems Wing announced the award of the next generation GPS Space System (GPS IIIA) prime contract to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company with a period of performance of FY 08-17 and valued at US$1.46 million.

ILS review board confirms results of Briz-M failure investigation

The members of the ILS Failure Review Oversight Board (FROB) have concluded two weeks of meetings in Moscow, and concurred with the Russian investigative commission on the cause of the recent Proton Briz M failure.

Galactic price overrun

Japan’s long-delayed medium-sized Galaxy Express (GX) rocket may cost three to five times as much as originally expected, the Yomiuri Shimbun reports. The project is now likely to face a review, the report said.
