Arianespace said its initial Ariane 5 mission of 2009 has taken another major step closer to its 12 February lift-off with the launch vehicle’s transfer to the Final Assembly Building at Europe’s Spaceport.

Boeing has received a US$75 million contract extension from the U.S. Air Force to continue risk reduction and system definition for the Transformational Satellite Communications System (TSAT).

The Iranian Space Agency (ISA) announced that its first domestically-built satellite called “Omid” (Hope) would be sent to space by 20 March, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
