Because of an ongoing review of the space shuttle’s flow control valves, NASA managers have rescheduled meetings this week to assess the launch readiness of shuttle Discovery’s STS-119 mission to the International Space Station.

ESA’s Herschel and Planck missions that will study the formation of stars and galaxies and the relic radiation from the Big Bang, respectively, have successfully completed their test campaigns in Europe. The two spacecraft will soon be shipped to Europe’s spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

Lockheed Martin announced that the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (EHF) military communications satellite is now undergoing thermal vacuum testing at the company’s Sunnyvale, California/USA facilities.

After decades of endless announcements but no action Iran has finally managed to independently build and launch a micro-satellite. But apart from that not much seems to have changed; official announcements usually still range from vague to nonsensical. No wonder western media reports sometimes aren’t much better, either.
