One of the best reasons to order Satellite TV is for new movies, straight off the DVD shelves and right into your living room. Yes, video stores are being clobbered by premium satellite PPV channels as of late. Remember when everyone went to the local video store to get newest VHS copy of your favorite movie? Now VHS cassettes are selling for change.

Vampires have often been a favorite subject for the cinematic arts. Their ghastly, yet suavely preternatural demeanor and lust for our red, liquid human blood makes them the perfect candidates for an elegantly gruesome HD feature length movie presentation. The recent success of movies like Twilight and Underworld, coupled with earlier big screen adaptations of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and numerous other offshoots including Anne Rice’s fabulous brooding brood of vamps, depicted so memorably by uber-super-stars Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, have ensured that vampires have and will continue to haunt the collective imagination. But vampires aren’t made only for the silver screen. They’ve migrated to the ubiquitous TV tube.

Hollywood loves to get into kung fu mode and crank out a high flying, action packed martial arts movie every so often, and while purists are wont to compare the Hollywood versions to the classics, new and old, of Hong Kong and the mainland, there’s really no doubt that the visual artistry is a sight to behold, preferably in high definition. The advent of reality TV has meant that just about every thing that can be filmed and dished out on cable and satellite TV has been both duly filmed and duly dished out. We’ve seen catty wanna-be models trying to make it big, small time chefs cooking up big time dishes and equally mammoth sized on set brouhahas; there have been millionaire dollar housewives, intrepid globe trotting travelers, and struggling singers trying to hit the high note; we’ve seen fourth rate celebrities duke it out for a little time in the limelight, spoiled teenaged girls gallivanting around town shopping and throwing lavish parties, sports stars trying out a different pair of shoes and not finding out that some things aren’t meant to change, celebrity personalities being shuffled off to suburbia, trying to figure out what living normally is like, the list goes on and on. Radio satellite Sirius FM-5 (not to be confused with SES’ Sirius 5) was delivered to the Baikonur Cosmodrome on 26 May. After passing through customs, the spacecraft was transferred to building 92A-50 for testing and integration.
