NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory rover, scheduled for launch in 2011, has a new name, thanks to a sixth-grade student from Kansas. Twelve-year-old Clara Ma from the Sunflower Elementary school in Lenexa submitted the winning entry, “Curiosity.”

With all of the network broadcasting contracts in existence, it may be difficult for sports fans to be able to gain access to all of the events and matches of their favorite teams. Satellite TV can make this possible, allowing sports fans to subscribe to their favorite channels as well as high definition programming for the best possible viewing experience. Satellite TV even has some package deals available, such as the NFL Sunday Ticket, that broadcasts all football, all the time, along with special pre- and post-game commentary, player stats, and simultaneous viewing of separate events, for the biggest NFL fans.

Politically-themed television programming is not a new concept; in fact, series, made-for-TV movies, and mini-series dealing with politics and government issues have long been the entertainment of choice for everyone from history buffs to current events junkies to even sports fans. Some particularly well-written political dramas have even made it into the mainstream, with wide audiences that are not just watching for the politico tones but for the entertainment value.

ESA’s gravity mission GOCE has achieved a first in the history of satellite technology, the agency said. The satellite’s electric propulsion system has shown that it is able to keep the satellite completely free from drag as it cuts through the remnants of Earth’s atmosphere.

When the U.S. Government Accountability Office recently published a report highlighting possible problems with the GPS constellation in future years, reactions ranged from “accuracy not in danger” (U.S. Air Force) to “close to breakdown” (The Guardian). Which is true? In a nutshell: neither. Or both.
