Because satellite TV companies have millions of subscribers, and the ability to negotiate deals worldwide with foreign language broadcasters.

Many individuals living in the United States today speak Spanish as their first language. If they had their choice, they would prefer to watch TV and be entertained in the Spanish language rather than English. That leads to an interesting dilemma, as many cable TV companies today only have a few Spanish networks on their channel lineup.

An ESA official confirmed reports that the first launches of the Soyuz-ST and Vega rockets from French Guiana will be further delayed.

The European Space Agency (ESA) will begin building its operational constellation of Galileo navigation satellites beginning in 2010 with the use of two Arianespace Soyuz launch vehicles, each of which are to orbit a pair of spacecraft in missions performed from French Guiana.

Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) has chosen Arianespace to launch its ABS-2 communications satellite.

ST-2 Satellite Ventures Pte Ltd (STS), a joint venture formed by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) and Chunghwa Telecom Company Ltd (Chunghwa), has chosen Arianespace to launch its new telecommunications satellite, ST-2.

TerreStar Networks Inc. announced that the launch of TerreStar-1 has been scheduled for 1 July 2009. Arianespace has established a two hour launch window that will open at 1614 UTC.

Arianespace has signed two more contracts for the delivery of components to be used for future Ariane 5 launchers.
