Satellite TV systems have become extremely popular in the last 15 years in both the United States and worldwide. What can a satellite TV system offer that cable television cannot?

The Digital TV switch over has caused a bit of unexpected chaos, and many folks despite all the warning had their TV signal canceled, and their older TVs cannot get the new digital signals. As I understand it there were 800,000 calls the day when the switch was made overwhelming the system set up to deal with the potential complaints. Those frequency allocations are needed due to the running out of allocated frequencies, but there are also very big complaints about other needs for those frequencies.

U.S. radio satellite Sirius FM5 is to launch aboard an ILS Proton-M/Briz-M from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 1910 UTC on 29 June, Interfax reported.

NASA has selected two science proposals to be developed into full missions as part of the agency’s Small Explorer, or SMEX, Program. The selections will implement projects that will study our Sun and some of the most exotic objects in the universe, such as neutron stars and black holes.

Optus announced an eight year agreement in excess of A$100 million (EUR58 million, US$81 million) to provide satellite services to the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC).
