Update: Vinasat-2 planned for launch in 2012

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunication Group (VNPT) plans to invest between US$290-350 million Vinasat-2, which it anticipates launching by 2012, the state-owned entity says on its website.

Update: Chandrayaan-1: too hot to handle?

ISRO chairman G. Madhavan Nair confirmed that the premature failure of India’s Chandrayaan-1 moon probe was not caused by heat alone (as prematurely assumed in some reports) but by a combination of factors.

Eutelsat moves W7 from Zenit to Proton

International Launch Services (ILS) and Eutelsat announced a contract for the launch of the W7 satellite on an ILS Proton. The satellite was previously scheduled to launch aboard a Sea Launch Zenit 3-SL.

Proba-2 arrives at Plesetsk

Proba-2 has reached Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia, where it is being prepared for launch this November. Among the smallest satellites ever built by ESA, it was transported there aboard an Ilyushin cargo plane.

Vinasat-2 planned for launch in 2012

Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication said the country expects to launch the second satellite in 2012, Vietnam Investment Review reported.
