CryoSat launch delayed

The launch of ESA’s CryoSat-2 satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, scheduled for 25 February, has been delayed due to a concern related to the second stage steering engine of the Dnepr launcher.

Update: Eutelsat W3B moved from CZ to Ariane 5

Eutelsat W3B was moved from a Chang Zheng launcher to an Ariane 5 because the satellite contains U.S.-made parts and thus cannot be launched by a Chinese rocket.

Update: Preparations for Proton launch with EchoStar XIV begin

Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced that it shipped a communications satellite built for DISH Network L.L.C. to the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, where it will be launched aboard an ILS Proton Briz M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS).

ESA chooses three scientific missions for further study

On 18 February, ESA’s Science Programme Committee (SPC) approved three medium-class missions to enter the so-called definition phase. This is the next step required before the final decision is taken as to which missions are implemented.
