Hope springs eternal for baseball teams every March – except for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals – as pitchers and catchers report to their posts in warmer climes and begin their lazy workouts. This rite of spring is something of a fan favorite, even though it never means much. Over the past several years, there have been bench-clearing brawls and other eccentric posturing which would make Pete Rose proud.
