NASA’s new tank dome debuts with Alcoa aluminium lithium

Alcoa announced that its aluminium lithium plate is featured in NASA’s friction-stir welded, spun-form dome that made its debut today at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

NASA selects Rapid III contractors

NASA has awarded contracts to eight aerospace firms for Rapid Spacecraft Acquisition III spacecraft and related services. Each contractor has one or more core spacecraft offerings available under its Rapid III contract. All fixed price indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity Rapid III contracts have a combined potential maximum value of US$4 billion.

DLR conducts ADM-Aeolus pre-launch campaign in Iceland

Scientists from the German Aerospace Center’s Institute of Atmospheric Physics travelled to Iceland for the last of a series of DLR-led technology demonstration campaigns for ESA’s meteorological satellite mission, ADM-Aeolus. Its closeness to Greenland and the Atlantic storm track region made the island a perfect base for the test flights with DLR’s Falcon research aircraft.
