Rocketdyne to perform risk reduction tests on 3GRB engine

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has awarded Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne a US$2.35 million contract to perform risk-reduction tests on key components of the Third Generation Reusable Booster (3GRB) rocket engine design.

Galileo-related contracts for T-Systems, Astra TechCom Services

Two companies have signed contracts with Spaceopal GmbH, a joint venture between DLR-GfR mbH and the Italian company Telespazio S.p.A., which is responsible for managing and monitoring the Galileo satellites.

XTAR awarded bandwidth contract from Intelsat General

XTAR has been awarded a bandwidth contract from Intelsat General Corporation. The contract calls for XTAR to provide Intelsat General with 16MHz of high power X-band services from its XTAR-LANT satellite stationed over the Atlantic Ocean.

“Kounotori” chosen as nickname for second HTV

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) conducted a nickname campaign for the H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV), a cargo transporter to the International Space Station (ISS) to familiarise people with the HTV. The result has now been announced.
