STPSat-1 team honoured by AIAA

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has honoured the STPSat-1 Team with the AIAA Space Systems Award. The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) contributed the two science payloads to this satellite and operated the satellite during its 18-month extended mission phase.

Satellite Finders – Choosing the Correct Satellite Signal Strength Meter

For those considering installing a Free-To-Air satellite system the single biggest technical challenge is the alignment of the satellite dish to the correct satellite. Unlike when installing a TV aerial when in “general direction” will do, satellites are far less forgiving and even a misalignment of a single degree with give the dreaded “No signal” message on the screen. The basic principles are the every install – you want to mount the satellite dish if possible on a south facing wall (all satellites orbit over the equator) and then check the basic direction and angle to set your satellite dish…

Satellite TV Service Is Not Complete Without a DVR

Without the scheduler that comes with a satellite TV subscription, one could easily get hopelessly lost in all the choices that are available. You could try keeping a chart next to your couch, but who actually ends up using one of those anyway? And manually flipping through the channels or committing channel numbers to memory would take some of the enjoyment out of the your entertainment experience. Almost as bad as not having the scheduler at your disposal is not having a DVR. Your subscription really wouldn’t be complete without either one.

Relax at Home This Thanksgiving With Satellite TV

Many Americans all over the country are somewhat disappointed when they think about their upcoming Thanksgiving plans. Due to the poor economy, families everywhere are choosing to stay home and spend the holiday with their immediate family members, rather than traveling hundreds or thousands of miles to spend it with their extended family members. That doesn’t have to be a negative thing though, and there are actually quite a few benefits to staying at home. For example, it means there are fewer family members to get into arguments with, you can cook everything the way you like it, and you get to be the person who chooses what you watch on satellite TV after your big meal. So look at the bright side, there are plenty of perks to having a big Thanksgiving celebration at home with only your immediate family members.
