Shuttle Endeavour launch no earlier than 10 May

NASA Space Shuttle and International Space Station managers have determined that 10 May is the earliest Endeavour could be launched on the STS-134 mission with ESA astronaut Roberto Vittori and the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer.

Final preparations underway for Soyuz-ST’s first ‘virtual’ flight

Preparations for the simulated first flight of Soyuz from French Guiana are proceeding on schedule for a “lift-off” this week, confirming the medium-lift vehicle’s readiness to join Arianespace’s launcher family during 2011.

Intelsat New Dawn antenna deployment delayed

Intelsat S.A. reported a delay in deploying the west antenna reflector on the Intelsat New Dawn satellite, launched on 22 April 2011. The satellite’s solar arrays have been successfully deployed and the satellite has power and otherwise nominal performance.

Dawn approaches Vesta

NASA’s Dawn spacecraft has reached its official approach phase to the asteroid Vesta and will begin using cameras for the first time to aid navigation for an expected orbital encounter on 16 July. The large asteroid is known as a protoplanet – a celestial body that almost formed into a planet.

Hughes takes Telstar 14R capacity

Telesat announced that Hughes do Brasil, Hughes Network Systems’ Brazilian operating company, has signed a long term contract for capacity on Telesat’s Telstar 14 satellite to serve Brazil that will transition to Telstar 14R when the new satellite is operational.

Elektrikom contracts TSBc capacity at 1 degree West
