U.S. lawmakers propose pulling the plug on JWST

The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science has approved a yearly spending bill that would terminate funding for NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

SBIRS GEO-1 delivers first infrared imagery

The first Lockheed Martin -built Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) geosynchronous (GEO-1) spacecraft beamed down its first infrared image on 21 June to the SBIRS ground station. Following its launch on 7 May, the satellite is performing as expected, and is now undergoing early orbit testing.
