The launch of a Progress cargo vessel to the International Space Station has become the latest failure in a string of recent Russian rocket mishaps. The unmanned cargo vessel crashed down in Siberia after an emergency shutdown of the Soyuz-U launcher’s upper stage. No casualties have been reported so far.

NASA and Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) will conduct a full-scale test of a five-segment, solid rocket motor at the ATK Aerospace Systems test facility in Promontory, Utah, on 8 September.
