Russia launches dual-use communications satellite

Rocket: Soyuz 2.1a/Fregat; Payload: Meridian 6; Date: 14 November 2012, 1142 UTC; Launch site: Plesetsk, Russia. The satellite was put into a designated orbit at around 1500 UTC. Russian operators “have established a reliable communications and data link with the spacecraft,” a spokesman for the Russian Space Forces said.

Delay of the day: KSLV-1 still waiting for replacement part

South Korea’s planned launch of its KSLV-1 will likely be further delayed as the Russian replacement for a defective part in the rocket is not expected to arrive before 17 November.

Update: Second AEHF satellite successfully completes on-orbit testing

The U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin have completed on-orbit testing of the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) military communications satellite. Following successful spacecraft testing, Satellite Control Authority (SCA) was turned over to the 14th Air Force at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, for operations.

Long-term agreement on satellite testing signed by OHB System and IABG

OHB System AG, a member of the European space and technology group OHB AG, has signed a long-term contract with Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG) in Ottobrunn for environmental testing of satellites.
